Soundtrack to the season

Each summer, a new set of tunes comes our way. These songs set the barometer for the playlist of the summer and each season, there are a few songs that trump the rest. While that’s to be determined long after Labor Day, we felt we’d channel our inner Calvin Harris and put together some of the songs that will be guiding us through the next few months. We all have certain tracks that bring us back to a specific time and place: a past love, a lazy Sunday joyride, and the perfect first date. Here are the songs that will hopefully create new memories for the Summer of 2015. Jump in, let’s go.

  1. ASTR – Activate Me – We’re all about this talented newcomer. Her sound is infectious, making us instantly wish every night was longer. Listen for yourself.
  2. REM – What’s The Frequency, Kenneth – It’s an oldie but a goodie. We’re seeing a slight 1990’s comeback in all areas of fashion. To us, this is Michael Stipe’s best song to date.
  3. The Weekend – The Hills – It’ll really get you going. It’s a deep rooted R+B track infused with a dark side that has already occupied a high rotation spot on our iTunes.
  4. A Tribe Called Quest – Bonita Applebum – Classic. Get into it. But, chances are, you already have.
  5. Ta-Ku – I Miss You – Romance in the summer is always a good thing. Always. It’s like Paris. Never a bad idea.
  6. Jamie XX ft Young Thug – I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) – Mixing old school Motown Beats with an updated hip hop flare, in this case, works very well. Incredibly well.
  7. OMI – Cheerleader – For us, this has become a summer anthem. To date, Spotify says we’ve listened to it 32 times. It’s a fun beat that you can groove to.
  8. Alex Winston – Careless – Her voice is soft and sweet, and her personality matches. Let’s hear it for one of the freshest sounds coming out of New York City.
  9. Yuma X – Swimming Pool – Get ready to become hooked. You can thank us later (much later).
  10. Major Lazer & DJ Snake – Lean On (feat. MØ) – A firm Tie Bar favorite, we’ll leave you to enjoy this one. Happy summer, guys.
