Three (of the many) ways we’re piling on the layers this season

Once you’ve bid the hot, sticky summer adieu, there’s nothing better than rushing out the door to meet a brisk morning (confirming once and for all that fall’s here). And with cooler temperatures comes a shift in the way you dress. Follow along as we highlight three (of the many) ways we’re throwing on the layers this season.

1) The Denim Jacket

Who doesn’t love a classic, all-american jean jacket? And if fitting in isn’t quite your style, try it in black, gray or khaki to set yourself apart. Style tip: the jacket should fit snug and hit at the waist (so really, the bottom of the jacket should meet right around where your pants begin). When temps turn from cool to downright cold, take it one step further and throw a blazer overtop.

2) The V-Neck Sweater

Chances are, you have at least one solid v-neck in your closet. It’s time to dig up this basic as you transition into fall. The sweater’s solid appearance ups its versatility factor by ten, masterfully accompanying you on your morning commute, late-morning coffee run, lunchtime sprint and to long-awaited happy hour. No matter where you’re headed, it’s lightweight feel will ensure you don’t sweat a thing. Style tip: to refresh your look, swap a classic button-up for one made of chambray.

3) The Cardigan

For the preppiest of dressers (and the bold at heart), pair a button front cardigan with a large checked shirt. And why not continue the preppy theme by tying on a bow tie in fall-appropriate burgundy? Style tip: for weekend errands, tone things down by unbuttoning the cardigan and opting for a solid t-shirt or chambray button-up underneath.
